i haven’t had the time it takes me to put together a separated at birth in a while, and truth be told, i don’t really have the luxury of time to do one now. but busy be damned, i’m doing it anyway! i thought i’d go a little bit rock ‘n roll today. have fun, and ummm, enjoy the music.

inspiration and decorating ideas come from many places and in many forms, and fashion is no exception. i see an outfit, and i think, “oh, i love that color combination, and that print!” and i then get it into my head that art can imitate life! for this round of separated at birth, vintage fashions inspired some decorating ideas for around the house. like the outside dining nook above, inspired by miss faye dunaway’s poolside post-oscar pose.

i’m such a fan of the blog suitcase confessions, and since i’m soon headed out of town, i am inspired by his pairings once again. tim works as a Principal lecturer in Design and a freelance stylist based in the UK, and has exquisite taste. these images are of treasures and trinkets brought back from tim’s travels over the years, prompted by his rather wonderful habit of photographing everything that he’s unpacked from his journeys on his bed, before putting them away.

i think i’d like to try some of these pairings upon my return from new york – sharing my travel treasures along side photos of how they end up living in my home. i shared tim falle’s photo diptychs once before here, and now let’s a take a peek at suitcase confessions’ latest stylish souvenirs. i think he’s so inspirational when it comes to collecting a multitude of things, but displaying them in such an uncluttered and magnificent way!

‘cafe’

something new for fridays. photographer alysia cotter and i thought it would be fun to collaborate and create a travelogue journal of sorts, documenting her adventures over in london, and mine here in san francisco.

we’re calling it across the pond, and each week we’ll choose a word and go out in our respective neighborhoods and shoot a photo we feel represents that word to share on our tumbler page, across the pond. we’ve been inspired by so many photographers doing these kind of collaborations – most significantly by the insane creativity of 3191, as well as two for the road. we hope you’ll find it fun!
