i love the clever creativity of really good graphic design. and all kinds of type. i’m working on a site redesign (be forewarned, it’s gonna be way different…i hope you like it!). anyhow, i save bits of type i like all the time, and grain edit always inspires. grain edit shares good design from all over the world, right here in our own internet backyard. here’s some fun ink on paper i found over there.

i love grain edit, and quite enjoy getting their post updates via email. this week was no different. i love this feature they posted about british designers i love dust. isn’t this print great? you can read the follow story over here, on the always lovely and inspiring, grain edit.

i completely love writer-director wes anderson. i just saw his latest film fantastic mr. fox which was excellent, and today listened to a podcast on kcrw’s ‘the treatment’, which you can download and listen to, as well. it was highly entertaining! and then i saw these – beautiful prints from some of my favorite films of his, including the royal tenenbaums, an all-time favorite. i found these dvd cover art designs by the criterion collection via grain edit, which is also high on my awesomeness chart. i just had to share my love of all things wes.

I’ve recently discovered this really cool site called Grain Edit when they ever so kindly included me in their Twitter list of their 50 or so favorite design-related Tweeters. This list isn’t exhaustive, it’s just a little peek at who’s tweeting about design, and I so appreciated being included in such nice company! Based in Oakland, California, Grain Edit is focused on classic design work from the 1950s-1970s and contemporary designers that draw inspiration from that time period. Their site content includes wonderful interviews with graphic designers (like some of these below), articles, designers’ libraries as well as examples of rare design annuals, type specimens, Ephemera, posters and vintage kids books from our bookshelves.
