dottie angel’s images always inspire me. like this image of her newly upholstered diy (dumptie) foot stool. cute, right? so i thought i’d round up some vintage-inspired inspiration for y’all showcasing some yummy shades of blue — aqua, turquoise and hints of yellow and green. c’mon, let’s get the blues.

all weekend long i saw the tweets from fellow bloggers and friends attending new york fashion week parties. i couldn’t help but feel a little bit green with envy thinking about all those fun photo opportunities. but in truth, the other half of me, the shy half would have been freaking out, trying to decided what to wear! anyway, today seemed like a good day to i spy green with envy. good a day as any!

today i was captured by the work of adrian briscoe. his vibrant color use and mood lighting sure is easy on the eyes. the way he captures each photo makes me want to curl up in those printed blankets wearing a pair of fuzzy socks and just gaze out at the rain. and i sure wouldn’t mind spending my time on that lime green themed tropical deck listening to david gray, day in and day out!

you may have felt a bit of an absence from a familiar and much beloved face around here lately. the talented mrs. french of bliss, who’s posted her blissful inspirations regularly on thursdays for some time now is taking a much deserved maternity leave to rest up and await the arrival of her baby girl.

so to fill the void, i thought i’d play a little ‘i spy‘. i loved that game as a kid, initiated by my parents to occupy my brother and i, bored out of our skulls, as we cruised cross country on our family vacations. ‘i spy with my little eye, something that is — red, green, yellow etc.’. one person secretly choose an object that they can ‘spy with their little eye’ and the others take turns to guess the name of the object. i’m going to take the game to a new level, and ‘spy‘ a new color theme each week. this week, i spy the tumultuous blue-green shades of the deep blue sea.

don’t ask me why exactly, but i felt very drawn to these colors recently, and found myself pinning a whole array of images on my pinterest boards all somehow reflecting this pastel palette of minty green, gray, and soft peachy-pink and orange tones. i was quite surprised to see the commonality in colors, and thought they’d make a pretty post, if for nothing else but a bit of inspiration. and, because for some reason they make me imagine pistachio ice cream.

this weekend i happened upon this beautiful image from flickr photographer Au fil de… (above), and it just made me think of all that really fresh green grass that grows abundantly this time of year in the Marin Headlands. I love bits of bright chartreuse or lime green in decor, too, so I thought it’d be fun to take a peek at some rooms with that spring fling going on.
