well, not all that calm. when grant k. gibson interior design was commissioned to create a teenage girl’s bedroom for the elle decor showcase house, he went mad for hot pink! and when grant placed an order from my etsy shop for a pink keep calm and carry on print for the adjoining bathroom, he had me over the moon with excitement (not the least bit calm, at all!).

it’s wonderful to have one of my prints grace the walls of a grant k. gibson interior design masterpiece, and in an elle decor showcase house, no less, so i couldn’t be more thrilled. for a peek behind the scenes of grant’s work on the showcase house, pop into his blog, and for more of his beautiful design work, visit his portfolio.

and if you’re in the bay area, elle decor welcomes the public to view the showcase house every weekend from November 6th to 21st. you can purchase tickets through the junior league of san francisco. i highly recommend it — there’s nothing quite as inspiring as visiting the interiors of some of san francisco’s oldest homes.

mrs. french of the very beautiful blog bliss had a fabulous home tour of veronika’s perfect abode, and i couldn’t help but love the way she matted and framed her midnight black keep calm & carry on poster in this natural wood frame. so much so, that i plan on framing one my own to hang in my soon to be black & white living room! you can find the black keep calm silk-screened prints in my etsy shop (along with a lot of other original colors, like charcoal gray, seafoam, red and pink).

*as a way of assisting with haitian relief efforts, i am currently donating $5 from every sale to the red cross.

it’s that time of year again — have you made any new year’s resolutions? feel like sharing them with us? i’d love to hear what’s on your mind, and see if you’ve got a secret something we all might get inspired by to make this new year a more productive, meaningful and happy one.

I added a bright and shiny new metallic gold Keep Calm & Carry On poster to the sfgirlbybay etsy shop just in time for the holidays! It looks quite festive, but also a classic that mixes well with an eclectic decor. Hope you like it! You can find the new metallic Gold poster here.

i know it’s not really a ‘color’ so to speak, but i wanted to see what my keep calm & carry on posters might look like in a nice chalkboard black. it’s not really ‘chalky’, but a nice rich, solid jet black, but the white type on black reminds me of a beautiful chalkboard. it’s turned out to be one of my favorites. if you like it too, you can find it in my etsy shop.

the phrase is everywhere and the posters keep on and on. all i can figure is that when times are tough, it’s just a phrase that resonates with everyone. and now, ceramic artist rae dunn has created her own little homage to the poignant sentiment. these beautiful ceramic bowls are rae’s own sweet tribute and interpretation of keep calm and carry on. for more of rae’s lovely work, check out her etsy shop and follow her blog.

okay, so there comes a time when you just have to toot your own horn a little bit. i’m not that great at it. i’m not even very graceful when it comes to accepting compliments, but i’m trying to overcome that. so, with this little justification, i just had to share that i made the new york times. well, rather i should say ‘victoria smith’ (aka sfgirlbybay) made the nytimes, because they didn’t mention sfgirlbybay or the url to my etsy shop. the story, if you missed it, was about the ‘keep calm & carry on‘ posters that i carry, and the many incarnations the motto has taken on these days.

so in honor of making the nytimes, i’m having a little sale in my etsy shop. i’ve discounted all orders 20% today through the end of july, including my ‘sunday in the city prints’. here’s the link to my etsy site — all markdowns have already been made! and thanks very much to the nytimes for the mention!
