what would a new year be without me going all kooky and changing my rooms around? i swapped the living and dining rooms around again. yes, again. i was having the claustrophobic feeling that the room was just too scrunchy, so here we go again. i like to take all my stuff, mix it up and use it in new ways, giving the rooms a whole new personality. mostly the same old stuff, just re-purposed for a new look. i think i’ll leave it this way. ha! surely, i jest. that would be so boring, right?!?

the little black settee is from urban outfitters. the white rar eames rocker is from velocity art & design. the knoll saarinen side table is vintage from mcmf. the throw quilt is from secret holiday and the swiss cross pillow is from enhabiten. the striped pillow is a flea market find from euro-linens.

these prints are from artist Rikkianne Van Kirk’s shop you sentimental idiot. i love her work and have several pieces. the mattress ticking striped pillows are from belrossa home.

the sheepskins are from black sheep white light. the industrial cart below is vintage from fab.com. the frame was a lovely gift from the 10 cent designer, and the print is by Rikkianne Van Kirk.

i have a LOT of books. lots. this book of marilyn monroe’s last sitting by bert stern is a favorite flea market find. i added wheels to my ikea expedit bookshelf for more mobility (it weighs like two tons).

okay, so it wasn’t that long ago that i shared my new living room arrangement with y’all. remember? the black walls with pops of pink? well, i got a little restless (what else is new?) and painted over the black with some fresh white paint, and swapped around the furniture a little bit. i can’t help myself – i’ve got a decorating identity crisis, and can’t stick with one look for too long. i’m still (as always) struggling a bit with hanging art, and a few blind spots, but here’s the latest.

i’ve got a lot of work to do this weekend, but at least i can do it horizontally. have a super swell weekend, y’all! see you back here on monday!

i haven’t updated y’all on some of the changes i’ve made around the old homestead lately, so i thought i’d share a few new finds with you. my dining room (former living room) is still in need of something, but i’m having trouble figuring out just what that might be. i got a cowhide rug from ikea, but maybe a white fluffy rug would warm it up a bit? definitely i need to hang some new artwork! a gallery over the settee, perhaps? any suggestions from y’all are most welcome…what do you think it needs?

i got this great vintage beacon camp blanket from cactus creek to add some color and warm up my mid-century modern bench. and, this is my new settee from urban outfitters. i love the look and it was super affordable. and yet, it looks a little lost…what would keep it in good company?

well, i was at it again this weekend…rearranging the furniture in just about every room! i get so tragically bored, and really wasn’t feeling it around here for a while, so i started moving one thing, and one thing lead to another. i had swapped the living room with the dining room awhile ago, and then swapped back (call me crazy) and now — i’ve swapped ‘em once again. still debating on painting the chalkboard black and lightening up the living room, but now that i’ve changed things up, it’s feeling kinda cozy. what do you think? love it or hate it?

i would love to have a black leather or naugahyde sofa. i adore the sleek lines and dramatic statement a black mid-century modern, or a big tufted black baby could make in a room full of white.

i’d even be quite happy a wonderfully upholstered fabric sofa (like this rockefeller sofa via jayson home & garden, above). i’m constantly on the lookout for a great vintage bargain find, on craigslist and ebay, and when i find the right one, mark my words, i will swoop! baby will have black!
