the other day when i posted my new living room set up, i got a whole mess of inquiries about the ‘mountain poster’ (above) which is actually called up. so, it would appear to be high time i re-introduced you to the work of artist elisabeth dunker, if you have not already seen her collection. i’ve long been a huge fan of fine little day, elisabeth’s blog, and shop, where you can find the up print, as well as her textile designs, wallpaper, books, kitchen accessories and posters. she’s even got a great little viewing gallery of her work in her customers’ homes – a nice touch! here’s a look at what’s new at fine little day.

big, no huge, on my list is a dwarf citrus tree. i’ve been hankering for a kumquat or orange tree; i love this retro-inspired rattan lounge chair from urban outfitters; i’ve been gathering up cute vintage tins of late (great for stashing not-so-pretty dog treats!) and i like this one from soviet vintage; love these xoxo black metal hanging letters from lack luster co.; i’d be thrilled to have this balloons print by youngna park, from 20×200; and i wish duane dalton would make this into a poster, ‘cuz i’d swoop it up and hang it for sure; i wouldn’t mind having fine little day’s up cutting board; and i find this runner from abc carpet & home so very pretty!

i’m really drawn to this look of open shelving for my living room via skona hem, and i think the paxton well shelves from west elm could do the trick; and this set of leather bound books, the Anthology Of The World’s Best Poems from dovie moon would look nice staked up there with these bird and lattice bookends; and the leather butterfly chair from urban outfitters would perfectly complete the look!

i saw this loosely slipcovered sofa at merci in paris, and i can’t get it out of my mind…this one at z gallerie is a close second. i’ll dress it up with some cushions like this suzani pillow from material recovery; and perhaps this one from sukan.

i’ve been on the hunt for a large format photograph for my dining room, and i love many that i’ve found, but the problem has been price. can you say cha-ching? i must have exceptional taste, because everything i like is way out of my price range. but then, i discovered the work of debbie carlos, who has an etsy shop with a great variety of large format prints available at very affordable prices. debbie is a photographer based in Chicago, selling these oversized (most are 48″x 36″) posters of her photographs printed on bond paper.

debbie has also started making these large, and very delicate color prints (above) which are printed on vellum, which makes these images even more airy. the subject matter is simple, but rather ethereal, and look great hung with just some simple clips (even more affordable than framing!), which just allows the breeze to kind of blow the paper gently, as if alive. love them! for more work from debbie carlos, visit her etsy shop.

i completely love writer-director wes anderson. i just saw his latest film fantastic mr. fox which was excellent, and today listened to a podcast on kcrw’s ‘the treatment’, which you can download and listen to, as well. it was highly entertaining! and then i saw these – beautiful prints from some of my favorite films of his, including the royal tenenbaums, an all-time favorite. i found these dvd cover art designs by the criterion collection via grain edit, which is also high on my awesomeness chart. i just had to share my love of all things wes.

i know it’s not really a ‘color’ so to speak, but i wanted to see what my keep calm & carry on posters might look like in a nice chalkboard black. it’s not really ‘chalky’, but a nice rich, solid jet black, but the white type on black reminds me of a beautiful chalkboard. it’s turned out to be one of my favorites. if you like it too, you can find it in my etsy shop.
