the art of display.

there is a definite fine art to display. if done properly, it shouldn’t look cluttered or overdone, with tsotchkes strewn about everywhere, or artwork floating mid-air on your walls, without a care in the world. it should look stylishly cohesive, and make people want to look closer. you know, draw them in, not flee your house as if you were on hoarders. here’s some lovely little examples of some wonderful gallery collections and collectibles.

To Serve & Display.

The home I stayed at in Glen Ellen this weekend had a lovely collection of pale aqua pottery and white ceramic dinnerware and serving pieces, and it got me to thinking I needed a few more to add to my own collection (above). So I went exploring to see what I might find, both on Flickr, and on Etsy, both newly handcrafted and vintage. Here’s a look at some great inspiration for displaying your decorative vases and pottery, and those festive serving pieces too pretty to store away, as well as some Etsy shops that are great for finding new pieces to add to your own collections.

One Black Bird Studio Sale.

Lovely ceramicist Diana Fayt is hosting her very first Holiday Sale in her new studio space this Saturday, December 6th. Diana’s latest black & red work was inspired by the lovely black & red curated set of flickr faves I posted here a few weeks ago, and it’s just gorgeous. Delicate and dramatic, all at once, Diana will be featuring lots of new and affordable work for all.

So be sure and stop on by, as Diana’s Studio doors will be open this Saturday, December 6th from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Hot apple cider and fresh cookies await! And, if you can’t make the show, be sure and visit Diana’s etsy shop for more of her beautiful ceramics.
