fab friday.
i feel like starting something new. a little round up of my some fab friday finds. why not, right? we all like to dream about owning beautiful things for our homes or our wardrobes, or at the very least be inspired by them. here’s a few things i found this week and am really finding fabulous. i hope you do, too.

moonbeam’s irchin ball crocheted lamp shades (as seen on decor8), Pia Wallén Blanket, mid century rocker from urban outfitters, and tord boontje garland light (as styled by door sixteen).

pottery barn’s edison chandelier, some converse all star slip ons, charcoal velvet ottoman from brocade, and imagination poster from postal press.

casamidy’s ixelles settee, porcelain bears in love from rare device, jill bent’s striped french market tote, and adorable pitched roof birdhouse from loll | modern.
oh, and happy, happy friday.

so, it’s black friday and cyber monday or some such thing. i don’t really do gift guides, because, honestly i feel gifts should be heartfelt and special and have everything to do with the person you are giving the gift to, and not so much what i tell you to shop for. so i think that you are perfectly capable of finding just the right thing all on your own. so, i’m not going to even try to tell you what that might be, because i don’t personally know your loved ones like you do.
i would recommend shopping at small, indie shops, like any one of my advertisers you see on the right hand column of the blog. lots of them are artists, photographers, or handmade, like something you might also find on the poppytalk handmade website where the best of etsy is represented. or from an independent mom & pop shop like rare device, perch, the curiosity shop or park life – all wonderful small boutiques in san francisco, but also shoppable online, to make shopping a little less stressful.
or, go on — make something yourself. that i feel good about. but, whatever you choose, think of your recipients long and hard, and what might be most meaningful to them. it could be a scarf you knit, or a photograph, or just something special that shows how you love them. love goes a long way. try to stay calm out there, and try and remember what it’s really all about. in the words of the beloved beatles, love is all you need.
Man Shops Globe – Tonight!

so sorry this is such a late post, y’all, but with the site crashing earlier today i got so behind! Anyway – tonight the Sundance channel is premiering a new show featuring Anthropologie’s ‘man about the globe’ — all about their buyer-at large Keith Johnson. The show will follow Keith’s travels around the world as he shops for Anthropologie’s beautiful, imported treasures. The dream job, right? You can find details for where and when “In The Know: Man Shops Globe: his job. his adventure”, will air here on the Sundance channel website (I do believe shows will repeat should you miss tonight, so check their schedule). Ooooh, this is when I wish i owned a television. Watch for me and fill us all in!
Addendum: I just located it on iTunes and you can download a season pass for $13.99.

Shopping Savannah.
A little bit more about Savannah…this time some shopping tips! Savannah’s Historic District has some great shopping neighborhoods, especially all along Broughton Street. Two shops of note, that we really fell in love with were @home Vintage General, and The Paris Market & Brocante, both of which were just gorgeous, with a super friendly staff! Also of interest was the beautiful honey shop, the Savannah Bee Company, and Parker’s Market for yummy gourmet snacks, homemade lemonade and very Southern sweet tea!

The Paris Market is just a little slice of Heaven! Much like a Paris flea market, The Paris Market’s two floors are chock-filled with all kinds of vintage treasures, and beautiful home furnishings and accessories. It also has a sweet little coffee bar, and sells an assortment of old-fashioned candy. If you’re not visiting Savannah sometime soon, you can also shop online.

Next up, the charming @home Vintage General is just up the block, and it too, has tons of wonderful vintage-inspired home accessories, beautiful, colorful ribbons, wonderful toys, jewelry, fun flash cards, sewing patterns, pretty pillows, bedding and adorable home accessories. Be sure and follow owner Liz’s @home blog, and remember you can soon shop online, too!
