i’m back with another edition of the new bohemians. this time, i was inspired by the idea of something with a little bit of a mod twist. i love the idea of taking unexpected vintage pieces — like this very beautiful black dinette set by peter kragballe photography paired with amazing modern artwork from dawn gardner and a very mid-century modern stool a la bertoia. mixing madness, that’s what i like. it all works when you get it right.

i’m back with another edition of the new bohemians. this time, i was inspired by this new york loft dining room, via living etc. i love how unexpected it all is — from the theater chairs and farm table mixed with the mid-century modern chairs reupholstered with vintage train schedules. an unusual combination, but as with any well done, modern bohemian look, it just works so effortlessly.

this is a great juxtsaposition of ideas, from the hollywood regency pieces to totally modern, i like it all, via domino magazine.

new bohemians just don’t care about rules. they mix, they match, they throw caution to the wind when it comes to decorating their spaces. much like this victorian mantel from lonny mixes well with with modern art, there’s just no method to the madness — and no era is off-limits. the new bohemia is a modern mix of mid-century modern, contemporary, vintage, antiques, and even very urban, industrial pieces.

It’s a collection of pieces found and cherished like these from pia jane bijkerk and milk magazine, passed down from family, and combined with new home furnishings you’ve finally splurged on. i think when you decorate and surround yourself with things you love, you’ll finally create a home you always wanted. is there something special you’ve kept in the mix, even though it may seem off-kilter? i’ll bet it’s one of your favorites. i bet you’ll have it forever.

there’s so much going on here, and i love it all — from an industrial looking dining table to a 70’s inspired brass chandelier to what i believe to be antique chippendale chairs, via sköna hem.
