around this time of year when i was a kid, the leaves on my favorite climbing tree would start to turn bright yellow. yellow on white feels just right when the bright california sun is hanging low and the air is getting cooler. paired with these geometric patterns, faded reds and blues, and spots of black, this modern day-dream is all about that last drop of warm sunshine!

i think i must be fighting off the ever approaching winter with all i’ve got these days. i painted the living room bright white this week (more on that to come) and am decorating with brighter colors to contrast all that snowy white. so today, i spy sunshine. lots of white with some snappy pops of orange, yellow and more!

i didn’t get the chance to say ‘happy friday’ to y’all since i was on a flight back from paris all day, so happy monday! and for those of you stateside, happy fourth of july holiday!

i’m loving pops of yellow lately. i love the bright contrast of yellow in a room full of white, and black and gray, too. yellow looks great when mixed with loads of colors, and is always cheerful. it’s pretty hard to be in a sour puss mood in a room with a burst of sunshine right? like daffodils, yellow’s just bound to make you smile. this week, i spy sunny yellow.

i’ve still got a spring crush on yellow. it’s just so darn cheerful — it feels as though it would be difficult to get into a bad mood living in these rooms. yellow has got a bit of that mid-century modern feel, too. my mum had a lot of yellow (along with green and orange) in our house growing up. i called it ‘peas, carrots and corn’. but today, let’s mostly just look at corn.
