it’s october (how’d that happen!?) and in san francisco, that means artists’ open studios. hundreds and hundreds of bay area artists throw open their studio doors and invite us inside, to see their work and share their creative spaces. i love seeing all the beautiful work at open studios, and i also really love the inspiration that fills me as i walk through these gallery and artist studio spaces. there’s nothing like seeing the places where artists create.

open studios starts this weekend, and here’s just a small sampling of the studios open this week. i’ll share the next coming weeks’ shows as well (on thursdays), and you can also download a complete list and maps of the studio locations on artspan, who does an amazing job of organizing san francisco open studios. there’s also an iphone app to download and map your studio visits. and, remember, if you can’t be here, many of these artists’ works can be found online, as well!

  1. Thanks for sharing the info about Open Studios, so many great artists this weekend! I’m showing in weekend 3 this year and it’s great to meet so many supportive San Franciscans!

  2. If you are an iphone, iPad, or iPod Touch user, you can find the Open Studios schedule and artists, which days they’re open, the type of art and more in Swerve, a free iPhone app. Check it out to find out which studios are closest to where you are or will be. ArtSpan collaborated to get all the info in mobile form!
