i spy: modern autumn.

it’s started to feel like fall around here. crisp autumn air, the smell of fireplaces being stoked somewhere in the distance, and colors like ochre, gold, plum and mauve popping up on trees all over. today i spy a more modern autumn. this is a contemporary take on your basic autumn shades and i love these rich, warm colors. they make me want to bundle up in scarves and go strolling, stomping leaves under the soles of my boots as i go.

  1. really loving the colors of plum and golden yellows this season.
I love your description of fall weather and your surroundings.
We just turned our living room into a modern burst of these colors and
it really warms up the place. Now if it would just get cold around here to cozy up.

  2. I love the interiors you have here. Good picks (and pics!) of the “light but warm” elements that make them so inviting. They are also a good reflection of an often-subtle West Coast autumn. In fact, “Subtle Autumn” would also have been a good title to capture the feeling of this post! (Or, “Autumn Nuances?”)

  3. Mmmm, that. eames. chair. … to die for! I need to get my hands on one. I’m loving all your autumn inspirations here; every fall, I have the impulse to redecorate to make everything a bit warmer//cozier. I usually bring down a few wool throws, at the least :)

  4. I love the gold and purple, and the brights with whites. Such a lovely alternate fall collection. WHAT? From black to white at your place? Oh no, I like it, but is it time for a change?

  5. Gorgeous. Plum and Gold. Two of my favorite main-stays when I worked at Neiman Marcus in the 80’s. My favorite ensemble in fall was a ochre colored skirt and a rich shade of plum sweater. I always felt rich in those colors. Great photos of clothes. They are awesome. Those colors in the interiors always come alive when they imitate the colors in nature like you say. Like going on a retreat!
