Outdoor Dining Guide: Maia McDonald.

kinfolk, via little upsidedown cake.

With the arrival of summer I’ve been craving spending as much time outdoors as possible. Particularly enjoying the incomparable pleasure of outdoor dining. There is something so satisfying about eating on the grass or at a picnic table with friends and the smell of flowers and a light breeze. Maybe it’s because it makes me feel a little closer to nature and where my food comes from. Or maybe it just makes me nostalgic for childhood summers in rural Wisconsin. Whatever it is, I find an evening dining al fresco with friends to be the epitome of summer perfection.

Below I’ve found some inspiration and did a little round-up so you can create your own outdoor dining experience.

  1. I am with you there! There is nothing better in the summer than dining outside. Picnics on the beach or in the park and evening dinners on the back porch with the string lights are just lovely experiences that I can’t go without during this season.

  2. I couldn’t agree more! Nothing feels quite as long, leisurely meals when it is warm out. There is something about a beautifully (simple!) table with good friends, warm weather, and a good bottle of wine (or two) that screams summer.

  3. I am so with you there. I’m from Minnesota so maybe it is growing up in the midwest but all I know is that outdoor dining in the summertime is my FAVORITE. I’m currently sitting on my patio grilling steaks and corn on the cob AS WE SPEAK. Unfortunately, my little patio and backyard looks nothing like those photos…
