beastie boy style.

you might not guess that a beastie boy has a traditional design bone in his body. but he does — of course, it’s got an edge. i recently came across mike d’s renovated old home in the new york times. it boasts an enviable art collection, stunning light fixtures and ceilings that seem to go on forever, but the Pièce de résistance for me was his brooklyn-themed toile wallpaper that mike d (aka mike diamond) of beastie boys fame designed himself for revolver new york. look closely, it’s not your average toile, but an ode to brooklyn — smashing, right? oh, and for his full fabulous home tour, visit the new york times.

  1. Wow! Thanks for pointing to this home tour. Besides the killer wallpaper, I love how they made such a stylish space with a combination of eBay and Craigslist refurbs along with custom made and luxury goods. The final result is stunning.

  2. Hello,
Love his wallpaper. The designer, Shelia Bridges, did something similar years ago called ‘Harlem Toile de Jouy’. The wallpaper evokes the same twist on tradition and is to die for as well.

  3. I included this last week in my Friday Inspiration post, the whole house is beautiful!
