australian lifestyle magazine frankie always has such an inspiring shedload of lovely photography, pretty art-crafty stuff, music, travel and decor ideas. in the current september/october issue i especially loved a feature on santiago, chile-based textile artist karen barbé. i read that article and went down the rabbit hole of all things to do with the artist. a designer for her own line, karen barbé textileria, a self-taught photographer (she took all of these pics), a university assistant professor and host of embroidery workshops at her home studio, karen considers herself a “craft communicator”. her collection features embroidery, weaving, and screenprinting. for the whole lovely interview with karen by jo walker, the lastest issue frankie is available online. and you can find karen’s handcrafted goods in her shop and do check out her blog for more of her beautiful photography, including her studio work and scenic santiago.
