san francisco, i think you’ll want to save the date for this show. Running from May 2 thru 28, HEADS is a collection of giant blossoms in paper, exploring the organized chaos and rhythms of nature, as well as exhibiting the feats of strength required to complete these large scale works by TIFFANIE TURNER. tiffanie is an architect, artist and performer. A native East Coaster, she now lives in San Francisco and her work has been featured in the far corners of the internet, as well as right here in san francisco at Rare Device — the opening reception for the show is on May 9th from 6 – 8:00pm.
Tiffanie teaches classes in different paper techniques around the Bay Area under the moniker papel SF and has an upcoming workshop at makeshift society on may 15. The pieces she made for the Heads show each took between 35-80 hours from start to finish — in her artist’s statement Tiffanie says, “…I firmly believe that if it didn’t take a long time, you’re not doing it right.” it sounds and looks to me like she’s got it quite right.
OPENING RECEPTION: May 9 — from 6-8pm

Oh I remember her pinata eggs from last year! Love them. She is so talented. And I love that Rare Device is just around the corner from our home. They have so many cool events.

Those are beautiful!
I wish I lived in SF so I could get some serious inspiration at these type of events. :)

Thank you so, so much for this post and for spreading the word about the show, Victoria. A big thrill for my work to be featured on SF Girl By Bay! You are very, very sweet and hopefully I will be less disheveled when I see you next (at the opening?) and can give you a big hug.
Have a great weekend! Thanks to everyone for your comments. Hi Jennifer!
