hello all! it’s leslie and today i’m featuring my most favorite neighborhood gem here in san francisco and sharing it with all of you in the spotted series. nest has been around for as long as i can remember and i can’t help but stop in almost weekly as it’s just a few blocks from my home. everything lovely, whimsy, and worldly you’ll find here—both vintage and new.

nest is owned and operated by mother and daughter duo, judy and marcella, who travel all around the world seeking out the most unique gift items and treasured pieces to fill their shops. the original one (featured here) is in san francisco and last year they opened up their second location in nearby berkeley. every little nook and surface contains the loveliest collection of objects, from ornate jewelry pieces to rich textiles of all kinds. most of the larger furnishings were found at antique markets and are available for purchase, too. this is my go-to spot when i’m needing some home inspiration and i’ve picked up plenty of pieces from here over the years. french country tables, one-of-a-kind lamps, holiday ornaments, you name it. plus i also just love the feeling i get when i step into the shop. seeing all these gems they’ve gathered brings back good memories from my own travel adventures and inspires me to do many more.

  1. What a nice place! I have exactly the same place in Vancouver which gives me new ideas for my home, mostly vintage because it’s an antique store. There are so many things that I could spend one hour there and wouldn’t notice everything. I don’t know how to send you the pictures of it so I found this post about the store on some local blog so that you can see how my place of inspiration looks like ;) I like that in your store, there are a lot of nice pillows and I admire traditional colorful ones. How often do you go there? Because I visit my favorite store almost every week :D

    • I have Vancouver high on my list to visit again next. And thanks for sending the link to that shop…I can get lost in there admiring all those treasures!!! I visit my shop every week, as it’s just around my corner. Most of the time I don’t buy anything – I just like to go in to say hello and see what’s new, see how they’ve moved things around, get some inspiration… There’s something new each time I stop in. I can easily hand over my paycheck if I bought something each time!

  2. This shop looks so fun! I typically like clean, modern style- neutral colors etc. but at the same time I crave color and beautiful textiles and patterns. Mixing and matching is fun!
Another place to visit when I go to San Fran. I could easily spend an hour or more in a shop like this!

    • Oh gosh, I’m just like you, too. I crave color and texture but keep things very clean and neutral. I’ve found many neutral pieces at this shop, but I get so much inspiration after each visit. And yes, you can easily spend an hour here. It’s such a unique gem.

  3. Hey Leslie – gorgeous photos. i’ve lived in the area (guess we’re neighbors:) for 7 years, how do i not know about this place? thanks for sharing, can’t wait to check it out!
