this is the beautiful barcelona home of interior designer Merixtell Ribé. her home is distinctly scandinavian-influenced with lots of fresh, white walls and mid-century modern classics, but there are hints of her spanish heritage, too — seen mostly in her accessories, and those gorgeous floor tiles. a complete remodel, it’s hard to imagine this home was once a rundown, ramshackle building, but in one of barcelona’s most desirable neighborhoods, L’Eixample district — so once merixtell saw its potential she knew she had to take on the renovations and make this place her own. for the full tour, visit rum hemma.

  1. I’m usually not a fan of warm colors (other than woods) in the home, but this place strikes a really nice balance between the function and minimal Scandinavian aesthetic and fun and whimsical Spanish style.

  2. There is so much light in this flat, flooding in from all the large windows! I love the effortless – but very difficult to achieve yourself – mix of furniture from totally different eras. I’m trying to do the same in my flat and it would have been more successful if I had more space to play with, to let each piece of furniture breathe. Well, well, I can’t have it all!

  3. Really comfortable look…if only I had a fireplace in my own tiny apartment. Or wood floors throughout, not just the bedroom and great room. The bed really looks like something from Scandinavia with the blanket. The living room w/ Eames (?) chairs is my favorite part, though.

But I do have light galore…time to step up a few things remaining…

  4. I love this Scandinavian style. I love the use of white, which inspires cleanliness and together with the textures in the fabrics and furniture chosen get a really beautiful harmony.
