scandinavian-inspired color 101.

i’ve had these stools hanging around for a while, collecting dust in storage and so when Glidden invited me to attempt a little DIY project with their using their new simplified color palette, i thought it might be fun to give them a little scandinavian facelift. i wasn’t that fond of the dark wood on the top of the stools, and had thought about painting them white, but then i got the idea to go with pastels. i created a pinboard to gather scandinavian-inspired pastel shades i liked, and then i found my paint colors using Color 101 on My Colortopia.

i chose a few pastel paints to try out using My Colortopia color tools and came up with a palette i liked. from there it was pretty simple: 1) we sanded the tops a bit; 2) masked them off; 3) gave the wood a coat of white primer; and lastly, 4) then we added two coats each ofGlidden’s Pink Flamingo, Sunspot and Spring Green. paint’s always been my quick go-to makeover tool — it’s cost-effective, pretty quick and you get instant gratification. and the best part is if you get tired of it, just paint on a brand new coat. my kinda super easy DIY.
