hi—it’s leslie from spotted sf and today i’m bringing it back home to san francisco and introducing to the spotted series one of the most unique concept shops i’ve seen yet. i was first introduced to half hitch goods at a holiday pop-up a year ago and i’ve been following this rolling shoppe’s journey since.
owner and curator carrie caillouette is exceptionally savvy when it comes to finding and giving the most perfect gifts, a practice and tradition she has celebrated since childhood and studied through her profession. the secret to great gift giving—and the special bond that forms between individuals in the exchange—is finding personal objects that have truly meaningful stories behind them, then sharing them with others to enjoy. her continuous passion for collecting, gift giving and adventuring inspired her to open up her own shop which includes a beautifully curated selection of small-batch, high-quality handmade pieces from artisans she meets here in the u.s. and around the world. every item is unique and precious and one you’d personally love for yourself and for someone else. you can find out more about each of the makers through carrie herself or learn their stories through the features and the journal she shares on her site.
in addition to her online shop, carrie and her husband briton have outfitted a vintage vw vanagon doka t3 transporter, which she takes on the road to showcase her latest collection of treasures in various spots around the bay area. one day the truck will be at a neighborhood parklet; another day it’ll be set high on a hill in the midst of a winery. i highly recommend you sign up for her newsletter or follow her instagram to see what goods she’s carrying and where she’s popping up next. especially with the biggest gift giving season just around the corner!

Oh my, I love this!
What a great idea, and such beautiful things too. I love that so many of the smaller items are completely unique. What a lovely gift.
Even the van is adorable.

I really love how the items are displayed, especially the ones that have that glass bell-shaped cover over them! (sry idk the term for it, but it’s like the glass cover that covers the rose in Beauty and the Beast haha) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
You’re on the right track! They’re called bell jars:) I love those, too.
I LOVE that > so gorgeous! Seen it done with coffee and things at festivals in England but I love the concept of a traveling gift shop! – that’s resourceful :) -Silkie
Soo creative and such a great idea! She should consider adding a cute color to the truck and it would be soo much cuter!

I wish i could see more of these. You never know what treasures you could find. Thank you.
I, too, wish there were more roving shops like this. But I also really love that Carrie has come up with something so unique and so special. And that I can find her here at home in San Francisco:)

Most of the Fashion Trucks we feature are walk-in. I love this idea of walking up to it like you would with a food truck. How awesome.
