i figure one of the most important architectural features of your dream house could very well be your front door. i mean, it is one of the first things visitors come in contact with, and yet, doors can sadly be completely overlooked. or, just plain ugly. i think a great front door can go a long way to giving a house a much needed facelift. i’ve looked at a few houses (well, probably hundreds online) and i can see much room for improvement when it comes to welcoming guests into your home. once again, the design of your front door hinges (no pun intended) primarily on the architecture of your home — so if you’ve got a mid-century modern home you’re going to probably want a more sleek and simple door. if you’ve got an older victorian a more traditional front door, complete with knocker might be more in order. a craftsman home might call for something more colorful. but i like an unexpected entrance too — so i think it can be interesting to add a more modern door to an older home. and of course if your home comes with an amazing front door, restoration is the way to go. my ultimate front door, though? these steel and glass beauties like the one just below. those make my heart go pitter pat.

simple but great-looking gray front door, via maria killam.
I am currently on the hunt for an awesome front door color that my stodgy ol HOA won’t be offended by. There’s no way I could slip that bright pink past them but I would love to try!
But with all those options, how could you possibly choose? One of my favorite games to plan here in Dublin is choosing the best Georgian door color – it’s impossible! You’d need a different one for every day of the week ;)

we have an oversized glossy black door – and I love it. Puts a smile on my face every day.
Our’s is SO ugly, metal, and a rental. You can’t win them all! Secretly hope the view of the med makes up for it once you get inside??
Loving this front door inspo! I’m always a sucker for french doors
