let's go to: pacifica's yonder / sfgirlbybay

hello friends! this is celeste, a photographer and bay area native sharing a bit of my hometown with you today. having grown up just 20 minutes south of san francisco, i’d come to know pacifica as a quiet, fairly removed coastal town despite it’s proximity to the city. however, with the influx of creatives and entrepreneurs moving to the bay, some of that modern artistry is beginning to pop up in my dear old hometown.

one of the most telling signs can be seen visiting yonder, a shop owned and curated by artist linda fahey (you might have seen her work at west coast craft or anthropologie). linda works with porcelain, black clay, sculpture clay body, and wood to create her hand built pieces. because the shop is also home to her studio, you can see her pieces in various states of production when visiting. while yonder’s goods are centered around linda’s collection, it also features work by other local artists from the area such as diana fayt and colleen mauer.

linda says, “i like to carry some trending items, but i like to expand on that to introduce new and emerging work from a range makers and styles – which if i’m doing well — all come together to create an interesting, fun, and inspiring home decor environment. i also will carry small runs of items to keep the shop dynamic and correspond that with seasons and special events, whether pop ups or workshop visiting artists.”

i’m in love with these spoons. they’re a limited edition collaboration with diana fayt and are made with driftwood from local beaches.

although the shop’s presence in pacifica are signs of an evolving town, her work plays tribute to pacifica’s crown jewel: the pacific. waves and water are common motifs, as if marrying pacifica’s surf town vibe to modern simplicity. for store info and updates, visit yonder. and keep an eye out for their upcoming spring/summer workshop series!
You can follow yonder on facebook; instagram and pinterest. Cheers!

  1. I absolutely love this shop! I live in Pacifica and it’s amazing to now have a cute little shop to find any little gift item or always a little something for yourself! Linda is amazing and really wants to grow Pacifica to the amazing potential that it has!

  2. I have been looking now for over 2 years for premises to open my own shop in London, the more I look and try the more far away it seems that I will never get it. Posts like this keep me inspired and give me the energy to keep trying for a maybe too big of dream for me…

  3. Gorgeous- can’t wait to visit this shop and buy gifts for friends (and myself!). There is a similar boutique in Moss Landing (Monterey Bay) called Driftwood. Lovely products by local California artists.

  4. Wow! the shop looks so good here — thank you Celeste for such wonderful photos. We are thrilled and grateful to be featured on sfgirlbybay — one of my favourite blogs!

I look forward to seeing many new faces this year — Pacifica is beautiful !

    linda

  5. Ooh Pacifica! Thanks Victoria, for making me want to see San Francisco and surroundings again, every time I visit your blog. Five years ago you were my No.1 source for planning my trip from Germany and I am still keeping these many happy moments.

  6. One of the first things I discovered in Pacifica was Yonder Shop. I visit often…for a chat and to stroll around for a while, discovering new works of art on every visit. These photos are a beautiful tribute to the art and craft of Linda Fahey and her artists. Great share!
