as i think about what stays in san francisco (i.e. goes to a new home here) and what i take to L.A. when i move, i’m trying really hard to eliminate what i don’t need, and just keep the pieces in my furniture collection that really mean something to me, and are functional. i’m also considering what i might need in my new home, and credenzas are high on the list of functioning, multi-tasking furniture. they’re wonderful in entryways and they work in pretty much any room in the house — as a bedroom dresser; as a dining room sideboard; and in living rooms for media and music storage. to put it simply, credenzas just look pretty doing their ‘job’ of keeping clutter at a minimum. whether it’s a brand new credenza (and there’s some great ones out there right now) to a vintage mid century modern score, i’m for anything that looks this good stashing my unsightly stuff and displaying my favorite finds, too.

    • Never too early to start… Oh how I wish I had started buying house things earlier! Even if all you can fit is lighting, rugs, art, books, decorative objects. It takes a long time to find beautiful things especially if you are going vintage… start now and when you have that house you will be a massive step ahead :)

  1. Love the vintage. And the unpretentious little body in the second picture pulls at my heart strings. They are so much nicer than kitchen dressers.

  2. Great inspiration, thank you so much! Especially loving the vintage ones! If you like these, I’m sure you’ll love the vintage credenzas designed in the 50’s-70’s by Dutch furniture company Fristho as well. I’d love to decorate my home with one of those…
