hey it’s leslie of spotted sf and today i’m taking you across the bay to introduce a sweet little home shop affectionately called neighbor. located in oakland’s piedmont area, this part general store/decor store is full of beautiful furnishings, vibrant textiles, handmade goods, kitchenware, artisan foods, and other nifty items for your home and garden. vintage pieces as well as newer ones are in constant rotation, so you’re likely to see something unique and exciting each time you visit.

dana olson (owner of good stock, the boutique next door) and karen anderson (owner of mercy vintage now, a nearby vintage clothing store) have combined their talents and passions under one roof, mixing modern with found pieces and locally made goods with ones from afar. for example, many of the colorful woven pillows and rugs are from local designer ilano and the fluffy furs from black sheep white light are from icelandic sheep up north. never would I have thought to mix the two, but here in the shop I can see how perfectly they can be paired to achieve a warm yet eclectic look in your space. you’ll find plenty of great gift ideas and inspiration for your home when you stop in here. whatever your design needs are, the shop gals are happy to help out.

  1. Ok, I know where this shop is b/c I used to live in the neighborhood and know Mercy Vintage Row, but your blog post doesn’t give the address, neighborhood, or even the city (Oakland), which is pretty standard info for this kind of post. Otherwise, great post, and I really do miss being in walking distance of Piedmont Ave. It’s a great place to spend a few hours shopping locally.

    • Good catch! I appreciate it. I edited the post to note that it’s in Oakland. And I agree with you completely! Oakland has so many gems and I can explore around there for hours at a time.
