sometimes i just want to banish all color and live in a calming and perfectly elegant space (but not a fussy one) that’s just muted and lovely all on its own. i like the idea of lots of white, gray and black, and allowing the tiny little details to shine through — either through architectural elements, treasured collections, or subtle textures. an interesting lighting fixture, a pretty mirror, a well-thought out space with lots of room for living simply. here’s a few spaces that ring true for me when it comes to understated, muted elegance.

Beautiful post Victoria!! I simply love all of the pictures you have choosen. I too would love to live in such an all white environment perhaps with a little wooden browns and a dash of black to finish it off. Serene pleasure I would feel to live and breath in such an environment. I imagine my soul would just graviatete towards it.. However, I too am a lover of color with all it’s bold and daring qualities… In fact I think it quite courageous when one can live in a home with vibrant colors versus living in an all white one. But at the same time I am drawn to an all white room with dashes of muted colors just like I am attracted to a room with splashes of color…. But once again I long for an environment that surrounds me like the first three pictures shown in your post … Well in any event after all this being said I get what your saying I’m drawn to these rooms as well..
I love the dark floors with the all white room. So striking!

I want my apartment to look just like this! I love muted grays, whites, with rustic wood. I think I need to pin all of these photos to a pinterest board now. xo <3 Lisa
