Lotus Festival Echo Park / sfgirlbybay

echo park lake is one of my favorite spots to visit. complete with a wide walking trail, playground, cafe and paddle boat rentals, you can easily spend the entire day enjoying the water and taking in the view of downtown los angeles. and to top it off, it’s lotus season and boy, did they bring it this year. while there’s a few flowers blooming here and there all around the pond, the real show is in the northwest corner along glendale blvd. if you haven’t had a chance to swing by and see the beauties in person, mark your calendars for the 35th lotus festival this weekend (saturday and sunday july 11-12th). the annual festival promotes the arts and crafts of the asian pacific region, this year hosted by the country of Mongolia.

  1. Thanks for the tip! New to LA and always looking for new places to discover, Echo Park is on the list and looks like this weekend is the perfect time for a visit!

  2. I was a boy in the 50s, lived in Echo Park (on Clayton) and the Paddleboats were a thrill. I think actually my Dad did most of theleg work.
