have you heard about food52, yet? food52 founders Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs have set out to bring cooks together from all over to exchange recipes and ideas and to support each other in the kitchen. they wanted to create a buzzing place for people who do what they do all day long: talk about food! Together food52 creates cookbooks, takes on food projects, helps others with their real-time food Q&A — the Food52 Hotline — and support local food producers. Since starting food52 (we cook 52 weeks a year, get it?), millions of cooks and eaters have found their way to the site. they believe that if you want to eat better, and you want to help change our food system, you need to cook. Maybe not all the time, but some. You don’t have to eat local foods every day; you don’t have to shop at the farmers market every week. But it’s good to try — they’re realists who believe in applying the best aspects of all food movements to our everyday lives.

food52 has decided to widen the circle — they’ve launched an online shop to bring like-minded makers and artisans together, and to celebrate their goods and crafts. Because great food isn’t just about ingredients, it’s about everything that makes a meal – it’s the platter you serve tacos on; the composter in your kitchen; the knife you take on picnics; and the beeswax candles that burn on your table. there’s even a vintage shopping section. They’ve also created THE52, and i’m as proud as a peacock to have been selected as one of THE52 alongside such accomplished people — like beth kirby of local milk, aran goyoaga of cannelle vanille, and even master chef mario batali! You’ll be hearing from us from time to time as we contribute to articles to food52, test products from the Food52 Shop, and do takeovers on Food52’s social media. I’ll be contributing primarily to lifestyle stories since while i love to eat, i can hardly compete with the culinary skills of these folks, but i am hoping some of their talent rubs off on me! you can visit my collections and saved recipes (with many more to come!) right here and receive a $20 credit just for stopping by. let’s cook together like one giant, happy potluck!
