i used to have a dark blackish blue accent wall in my old bedroom, and i adored it (benjamin moore’s gravel gray). and i still love this look. jenna lyons may have made dark sleeping quarters into a trend with her fabulous bedroom featured many moons again in domino — and i’m sure others may have come before her, but that’s the one that i am always inspired by — unexpected lighting paired with that marble fireplace and those amazing black walls. bold and definitely beautiful. the look is pretty timeless — who knows, maybe darkness will prevail and i’ll go to the dark side once again. these rooms certainly tempt me.

I love a good dark bedroom – there’s something so romantic about it. Thank you for your inspiration!

i love, love, LOVE a dark bedroom! i had a medium grey room for a few years, mostly to “transition” my husband into accepting a dark room. :) we recently went REALLY dark with sherwin-williams “black swan” which is the most amazing eggplant-black. our house was built in 1922, so we have gorgeous wide trim, and i kept it bright white and the contrast looks AWESOME. i find a really dark bedroom soothing and restful – light bedrooms are simply too bright for me, i need and want it DARK for my sleeping space.
I’d love to have my own place so that I could take the plunge and do a dark wall. Its so gorgeous!

We love dark rooms and layering rugs. So many great textures here.
Wow! I never realized dark rooms can look so beautiful. Your bedroom, halls are quite fascinating to look at. But the colour of the wooden door in the last image doesn’t look that good with the dark layout. You can use the Asp or Flambjörk colour. If you don’t know what I am talking about, the colours on this page (http://www.winab.se/faner/).
That dark wall with the log ceiling is simply stunning. This is something I would love to replicate, but wouldn’t know where to start with the ceiling.
I echo the comments of the others, there is something deeply romantic about a dark wall, these pictures are very inspiring!
I love dark bedrooms but live in the PNW so it doesn’t work as well here. I recently redid a guest room and b/c it’s on the main floor and viewed daily, I wanted less moody yet peaceful. I painted the lower third of the walls charcoal and above the chair rail, cream. I went with an area rug that brought in some marigold and purple. The result is really great and the overall feel is bright but soothing.
I’ve always been one to keep a light & cheerful space, but honestly, I’m LOVING the darkness! When the time comes for me to adult and get my buy my first home, I’m definitely going to give this a try (with white ceilings, of course!)
