yesterday i snapped this instagram of the light in my bathroom at a certain perfect time of day, and couldn’t help but think of the word ‘dappled’. such a pretty word, and a pretty kind of light. so today, we’re all about shadows and light. i love the unexpected surprises and the art directed precision lighting that photographers can capture — like these shadows for instance. i couldn’t help but notice i’d rounded up a whole lot of these inspiring images recently on pinterest. either well-intended or completely serendipitous, the quality of shadows and play on light just make the images, don’t they? i spy shadows and light.

I love these pictures, I find the play on shadows and light so inspiring, it gives so much personality to an image. It is also a nice break from very instagramable, shadowless, white & bright images we see a lot these days.

Beautiful photos. Dappled light has always been my favorite as it reminds me of being on summer break, and taking naps in the sun on those last lazy hours of the day where the heat has subsided.
Thank you for this post! I’m an equatorial girl living on Vancouver Island, BC. I’m done with rain and dark grey!
