if you’re only looking at a rug, it’s easy to forget how much craftsmanship is involved. loloi rugs realized that, and invited me to share just how much care and detailed work goes into creating their beautiful, hand-crafted rugs. the modern day methods to craft their rugs are anything but modern. every step of their process is done by hand, where proud craftsman keep this time-honored tradition alive. knot by knot, and thread by thread skilled artisans from villages in india, like varanasi, bring loloi’s designs to life. for these artisans, weaving is not just a livelihood, but their preservation of a proud legacy. During their trips to India, Owner and Head Designer, Amir Loloi, sits for hours with the artisans, sipping tea and trading ideas. from there, the designs are executed slowly and skillfully by experienced artisans.

loloi rugs went on location and created a gorgeous video to share the craftsmanship of their artisans and the short film is most inspiring. i think after watching it you’ll be humbled by the slow, methodical, but meaningful process that goes into making loloi’s rugs and the art that these craftsman bring to each and every rug they make. next time i walk across my rug, i’m going to be thinking of this workmanship and attention to detail. thanks for taking us along to india and sharing this inspiring behind the scenes peek at your process, loloi. you can find loloi rugs online here.

  1. This is a beautiful reminder that actual people are behind these luxuries we have in our life. The craftsmanship in India is amazing on so many levels. I was just there and saw men making hand knotted rugs, it blew my mind. Let’s bring back things in our life made by hand and people, and not mass produced by a machine in China.
