well, we’re back in action — hi guys and happy new year, one and all! i hope you had a festive, but relaxing holiday. it’s good to be back! it’s not been the most restorative holiday i’ve ever had, but it has been very productive! we’ve started the remodel of my bathroom and walk-in closet and my house looks a giant boy in the bubble, because it’s wrapped in plastic in its entirety to keep the construction dust at bay. i can’t wait to share with you what i’m up to, but in the meantime, my pup lucy and i have moved into my downstairs guest studio, so i’ve been busy making it our home away from home.
i love the wood beamed ceilings and on warm days the ceiling fan from barnlight electric keeps it pretty comfy and cool down here. i’ve had the jenny lind daybed from land of nod for a while now, so i sleep up top, and lucy gets the lower trundle bunk. lucky girl seems pretty cozy down there. i organized the tiny closet and since there’s no door, i hung a pretty temple scarf from the block shop (if you’ve ever been to ostrich farm i got the idea from there!), and i hung a couple of my favorite prints — laure joliet’s bougainvillea print and rikkianne van kirk’s hold. the mantis wall sconce makes for a great bedside reading lamp. i added loads of pillows and a black and white Moroccan Berber Beni Ourain rug from the pink rug co. to cozy up the space. the studio is just about 100 square feet, so i had to go vertical with my storage, hanging my coat, scarves and accessories, and keeping my kitchen accouterment stored on white shelves above my wee kitchenette. i’ve got a makeshift ‘dining room’ which consists of the counter and a wicker barstool! i just have a small fridge, microwave and espresso maker, but we are making due quite well, and it’s kind of a fun challenge to start the new year living a little bit more minimally. here’s to less is more in 2017!
You have my sympathy about the dust. Been there, done that.
Your guest studio is adorable! Great use of the space. The daybed/trundle is very attractive.
Victoria,
I love the Laure Joliet print – what frame did you use? Happy New Year!
I use a company called Frame Monster, here in L.A. :)
Hi Victoria,
Can you tell me where your coat rack is from? The room looks great! So cozy.
Thank you!
Molly
Thanks, Molly! It was from CB2 but I don’t see it on their site any longer, sorry!
I noticed it too Molly. World Market has a similar one, maybe not quite as cool, but here it is: http://www.worldmarket.com/product/metal+accordion+wall+storage.do?&from=fn
that’s a very cool look-alike. thanks for sharing.
Such a lovely space!
Happy New Year, I wish you the best for 2017 x

Thank you, Jessica! And happy new year to you!
Love, love, love this space! Did you put the flooring in? If so can you share the material and manufacturer?
Thanks! I didn’t put the flooring in but it looks like Pergo to me.
Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the double post
Hello! Can you share the material and/or manufacturer of your flooring? Love it! Love the whole space :) Thanks!
What an adorable space. And really, as long as you have some Cafe DuMonde coffee, you’re as good as home.
thanks, greta! and yes – it’s my favorite!
Loving that black day bed!
