wowza! have you opened your mailbox to find west elm’s new catalog tucked inside? it’s really something special. it’s not just the incredible looking location (those tall ceilings, crown moldings, and marble mantel — sigh) it’s the colorful new collection with a vintage-modern vibe. i really love the juxtaposition of the classic architecture paired with the unexpected mid-century furniture pieces and colorful, playful palette. major kudos go to west elm’s creative director, johanna uurasjarvi and the styling team behind west elm’s fresh look. a visit to Scandinavia, the birthplace of mid-century design, inspired the new direction for west elm, and i can’t wait for more — well done! if you didn’t get one in your mail, visit the stunning new catalog online.

  1. Love the catalog too, but be very careful what you shop for at West Elm. I bought a couch there an after 10 months the leg just snapped off. We’re not even big people, it just broke right off. It took four months to get a response from West Elm. They sent some kit with no directions to fix it. Then two months later called to say they sent the kit to store with us until they could pick up the couch and fix it, which would take two weeks out of the house. We decided not to get it fixed because the couch is actually more stable sitting on a stack of books then it was with all four legs. What a disappointment. It’s pretty, but the quality was a disaster.

    • i’m so sorry to hear that, lynne. i’ve shopped west elm for a long while and never had a bad experience or been disappointed. i hope if they see your comment they might do something to rectify the problem. all the best!
