i’m still obsessed with tile — even more so after visiting cuba where almost every surface you step on is tiled beautifully, even if cracked or decaying. i’m planning on using moroccan-inspired cement tile from clé tile for my bathroom remodel and i couldn’t be more excited — if i could just narrow down which tiles i want — there are perhaps just too many pretty choices! i love the richness and texture tile adds to decor and i think it’s a trend that’s here to stay for a long time to come, and i for one am glad to see it making a strong comeback. i especially think it makes sense for floor covering in warmer climates — who needs a lot of rugs when it feels so nice to pitter patter around barefoot on nice, cool tileworks.

we just installed some concrete tiles in our front foyer, similar ones to the black, grey and white diamond ones in the Royal Roulotte image above. A tip- ours have black edges and white edges and even though they were sealed in advance, it was tough to get the grout off afterwards. We used light grout but it left a whitish tinge on the black. Make sure the tile installer knows what grout to use or you can end up with a pretty dull looking set of tiles and a lot of scrubbing. We were the first in our fairly large city to order these particular concrete tiles so there was some learning, even for the tile store which is well established.
These are all so pretty. I am really obsessed with the ones in that clockwise collage. I will definitely have some sort of tiles in my house someday!
