after staying in that beautiful lisbon apartment, i came home and kind of went ‘ugh’. not that i don’t love my home, because i very much do, but man, do i have a lot of ‘stuff’! living those few days in lisbon in a very simple, but also quite stunning apartment taught me that i honestly just do not need so much of these things that surround me. my books — they’re not going anywhere, but some of the collectibles i hoard are bound for a new life elsewhere. i just felt a little claustrophobic coming home to a much less simpler space. i don’t need a knick knack on every surface! these spaces inspire me, too — they show tasteful restraint in all the right places. time to do a little paring down, i’m afraid. i’m not saying it’s going to be easy, mind you — i love so much of what i’ve collected, but a little less won’t hurt me!

I know what you’re mean! I love minimalist spaces. But don’t get rid of all your stuff right away!! Put it in boxes first and if you didn’t miss it for a couple of months, then sell, donate or toss it. Just my experience. Love your blog and instagram!
I so agree…you can appreciate, and your eye can focus on, one beautiful object at a time….and your home feels light and airy.
