it’s summer and what better time to be reading like little fiends? so i’m back with this week’s must reads and some perfect reads to fit in before our beloved warm weather season comes to a bittersweet end. in addition to some great fiction i’ve been buried in (swimming lessons, a gentleman in moscow, and Along the Infinite Sea just to name a few) one of my favorite design books released this year is Surf Shack: Laid-Back Living by the Water by Nina Freudenberger with Heather Summerville and beautiful photography by Brittany Ambridge. i think you’ll be really inspired by the homes featured in this book, and even if you don’t have a beach house (yet!), you’ll find tons of ideas for feeling like you do.

  1. I bought Surf Shack right after it came out and I love it! I was born and raised in Los Angeles and spent most of my summer days on Southern California beaches. Love the book’s beautiful photography and interesting stories of the people who live in the homes. And I wish I had been smart to buy one of those little beach shacks back in the 60’s lol.

    • i know – it’s the best design book i’ve seen in a while. and i wish i had bought one too! my dad always threatened to move us to the beach – i only wish he had! :)

  2. I just finished Surf Shack and loved it. I live in the middle of cornfields in IN so it was do much fun to read about and see a whole different world!
