kara rosenlund has the very enviable job of traveling the globe and taking beautiful photographs. i follow her on her travels on instagram (and you should too) and wanderlust always ensues. luckily for us she turns these travels into fabulous photographic art prints so we’re able to armchair travel along with her from our very own homes. i know, not quite the same as hopping a seaplane to a remote island with our own cameras, but perhaps the next best thing. kara recently shared with me her recent return trip to satellite island and i’m excited to now share a little behind the scenes with you. a small island, satellite is part of the Partridge Island Group, lying close to the south-eastern coast of Tasmania and after spending three days and nights alone on the island, absorbing the wild nature of this remote place, Kara’s original iconic images of the Satellite Island boathouse were published worldwide and became the world’s most pinned boathouse. Now, five years later, she’s returned to the secluded private island to photograph its rugged beauty once again and from that visit, she’s created five limited edition prints from her time there.
kara’s limited edition prints are available in four sizes and are limited to 30 of each size, and hand-signed, numbered and dated by the photographer and are available exclusively at kara rosenlund. To read more about Kara’s first discovery and return to Satellite Island have a visit to her inspiring website and prepare to get the itch to set sail for satellite island — the island has become a must-visit destination for global travelers who seek to experience this remote paradise for themselves.
What a gorgeous place! Adding to the bucket list for sure!

Thank you so much for highlighting Kara. I jumped over to her Instagram and lost time in her feed. (It also felt nice to look at exceptional photography from faraway places instead of the shit show that is America right now. I enjoyed the escape!)
You have always been so gifted at finding the good ones for us. Thank you, thank you!
All my pleasure, Greta! Kara’s feed is always most inspiring!
