mismatched dining chairs at wood dining table. / sfgirlbybay

i’m so sorry, but it would appear that i’ve made this week’s friday finds a little bit ‘all about me’! it’s so very hard though, when i’m online all day for work and then i see things that might look smashing in the new laguna beach cottage. i’m still filling the space and in need of a few unique pieces, so bear with me while i hunt! i hope you all have a splendid weekend — i’m excited for one that has nothing to do with packing or unpacking!

  1. one thing i need is a new dining room table and i keep vacillating between a small round table, or more of a farm table like this one with mix & match chairs. it’s an odd spot to fill in my laguna cottage, so i am on the hunt for the perfect sized dining table.
  2. i don’t know if you saw this bit of amazing news, but architect mason st. peter and artist serena mitnik-miller’s amazing topanga canyon home is for sale!  if i hadn’t just moved to laguna, i might have seriously considered this beauty. act fast, it’s going to go go go!
  3. i’ve also been considering switching up my round white saarinen coffee table for a low, rectangular rustic wood table and i love this one. such a nice shape for stacking coffee table books and unique collectibles.
  4. i really love this bright, fresh interior photographed by chad mellon — it’s got a very nice eclectic vibe, a great little art gallery and while there’s a lot going on, it doesn’t feel cluttered — another vibe i’m going for around here.
  5. i’m also on the search for a cool lounge chair and i love the look of this comfy one. i want to have a place to literally just plop down with a good book and a chair like this seems like the perfect choice!
  6. i love how this lone kelly green chair just pops out in this all-white room. it’s a bold choice but doesn’t it look ever so fresh and inviting?
  7. this is such a great idea for a super comfy-looking a DIY headboard. and it doesn’t look too challenging and is perhaps within my very limited bandwidth of handy dandy skills.
  8. another beautiful bedroom idea i’ve always loved is a chaise lounge in the master bedroom. this one also photographed by chad mellon is really simple, but oh so lovely and serene looking.

One response to “friday finds.”

  1. If your space will accommodate a round dining table I heartily recommend that choice. There is such an intimate feeling when a few people cluster around a round table; everyone can see and hear everyone else. A few candles lit in the center and it’s magic.
