when i think of a frat house, i envision neon beer signs, bad plaid, sagging sofas that smell like one too many parties, and sneakers lying about everywhere. but not this fraternity house, or rather i should say former frat house. featured recently on lonny, this 115-year-old fraternity hall was renovated and transformed into a beautifully, bright and light-filled family home in auckland, new zealand. the couple that lives there saw the building’s potential and used their creativity to its fullest when they gave this place a brand new life. they’ve taken a large, spacious meeting hall and transformed it into several cozy nooks with modern seating areas and deleinating individual ‘spaces’ with area rugs which gives the feeling of division, or separate rooms. the outcome makes for one very inspiring makeover — for the full tour, visit lonny.
