on a trip to copenhagen awhile back i was most fortunate to have an amazing meal at the very delicious restaurant we are visiting today — the truly lovely admiralgade 26. it was late in the afternoon, i recall, and we just happened by it and even though i think they may have officially been in between servings, they welcomed us with open arms. there were a few other diners there, finishing up, but when a restaurant is somewhat empty, you’re never sure what to expect. but i’m here to tell you it will be a meal you won’t soon forget. i remember my filet of sole perfectly and i can’t wait for the day i can go back and try more of their incredible menu. it’s also completely charming inside in that danish modern way with mismatched vintage dining chairs and an elegant, but warm minimalism. we’re going to dress the part, in a stylish wool jumper and turtleneck, gucci tights and sassy black boots. it’s chilly in copenhagen right now, so we’re topping all this off in a long puffer coat, beanie and cozy scarf. while you wait on your friends to join you, how about reading Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem — a brilliantly original, captivating homage to the classic detective novel by one of the most acclaimed writers of his generation recently made into a film by edward norton.

  1. Love Love Love the novel Motherless Brooklyn! This was written when I lived in Boerum Hill, the neighborhood it takes place in, and many of the places and a few of the people in the book are from that neighborhood at the time it was written. I’m excited to see the film but saddened that so much was changed about the main character and story.

  2. I absolutely love admiralgade 26! My husband and I had a near-perfect meal there last fall, and it’s the most charming dining room. Our server was so friendly and warm, and made the dinner super special. Thank you for this feature that makes me so happy to remember that trip!
