it may be chilly stateside, but down under they’re celebrating summer, so this week we’re heading to the very pretty Burleigh Pavilion and its Tropic restaurant with ocean views that can’t be beat — careful you don’t get splashed by the waves cuz they’re just that close! designed by Sydney-based Alexander & CO with pastel beachy vibes, the ambiance feels a little bit like you might run into detectives Crockett and Tubbs from miami vice, but in the best way possible. besides the incredible view, the highlights of this venue are an unforgettable backdrop and super relaxed space — the perfect spot for a long lunch or dinner with a view. we’re going a little over the top for the holidays with a bold pink plaid pantsuit, paired with a jaunty neck scarf, pale green loafers to match the decor and some sassy lingerie. while lingering over lunch, we’re thinking of reading Red at the Bone a novel that poignantly looks at the ways in which young adults must so often make long-lasting decisions about their lives — even before they have begun to figure out who they are and what they want to be.

This is all very charming but those light fittings look like alien genitalia and it’s very disturbing.
