good day! and welcome, at long last to a tour of my laguna cottage! i was lucky enough to have my talented friend, photographer bonnie tsang out to the house and she took the loveliest photos — so apologies that it’s photo-heavy because i had a difficult time editing them down! and, i wanted to give you a sense of the place and how it’s laid out. it’s a 1929 casita and not large — probably about 800 square feet, with two bedrooms (one of which is my guest room / office), a large living room, one bathroom and a funky little kitchen — and lots and lots of outdoor space including a lovely veranda. so, i’m going to kind of take you room by room and share some of my resources with you. when i sold my L.A. house, i also sold it mostly furnished, and this place is smaller so it was time to redecorate. i’ve partnered with some of my favorite brands to decorate the new space — i reached out to them because i love what they all do and was excited to have their pieces in my new home. and if you’re interested, you can see some of my original inspiration for decorating in this post. okay, on with the tour!
first up, the living room. i wanted kind of a modern, but bohemian beach cottage feel and i got really eclectic with it. nothing too matchy-match here, for sure! i got a super cosy white slipcovered sofa from sixpenny. it’s their petite 72″ gabriel sofa, and it’s ideal for this small space. the white vintage linen pillows are from elsie green. i brought my amazing black leather milo Baughman lounge chair by jason koharik from my old home — jason repurposes vintage treasures and is a true artist at it, so check out his one of a kind collections. i bought the 1950’s Franco Albini Rattan Shell Chair and the steel & glass industrial display cabinet from chairish — also an excellent resource for pre-loved pieces. i found the george nelson bubble lamp on etsy. the palm frond fell from the trees on my property and i snatched it up! i highly recommend foraging for natural objects for your home.
i desperately needed storage for all my books since i no longer have my built-in bookcase, and found this beautiful black adora bookcase at lulu & georgia. it’s so fabulous and so practical too with the glass-enclosed bookshelves and hidden cabinets below. my Saarinen coffee table can be found at yliving. i decided to layer up my rugs, so the sisal rug is from wayfair (i got a sisal runner for the hallway there, too) and the beautiful moroccan rug on top is from heja home — their collection of rugs is gorgeous and vast and come in such a pretty color palette. the throw on the sixpenny sofa is a weighted blanket in sea salt from sheltered co. and so calming and comfy! i’ve had the black dresser forever, and it was from my mum’s old antique shop. all of my curtains are the white Cotton Canvas Grommet Curtain from West elm.
this is a crazy collection of mine, mostly vintage from all over. the large head is actually supposedly a puppet form for singer anne murray and i got it from american garage on instragam. jason tauritz has a killer eye so follow him for great vintage finds he posts from time to time. the soapstone figurines are from maven collective in portland, another online source for vintage treasure and she’s always posting new collections on instagram, too. the bentwood stools are from rejuvenation’s vintage collection — maybe you didn’t even know they have a great vintage selection, but it’s a wonderful resource so check them out, too.
the petite 1960’s rustic dining side table is also from chairish and the seagull dining chairs are from elsie green. the artwork is all found pieces from the flea market, and the rattan lamp is an etsy find. the throw blankets on my white Franco Albini Rattan Shell Chair are from jayson home, another favorite online shop for home decor accents. again, the mid-century modern bentwood stools are from rejuvenation’s vintage collection.
a lot of my vintage collections are flea market and Etsy finds, but i also love st. frank for collectibles, like my black glass beads, which i’m kind of obsessed with lately. quite a bit of my artwork, like ‘you sentimental idiot’ is by rikkianne van kirk – one of my favorite artists.
okay — now for the guest room / home office. the vintage rattan daybed is from elsie green, my partner at super marché and i’ve got a similar daybed in stock right now. the vintage thonet chairs are craigslist finds, but elsie green carries them quite often, too. the beautiful area rug is from arroyo abode and again the sisal rug beneath it is from wayfair. the bamboo table lamp is from etsy and the large japanese paper lantern is from bunkado (a great shop in L.A.’s little toyko). the vintage shelf above the daybed is from jayson home.
my desk is another chairish find — it’s a 19th Century French Saw Horse/Trestles Table and makes for a nice big desk! the Matisse poster print is from american posters and the read instead print is from book shop. more artwork here from rikkianne van kirk and leigh wells, another favorite bay area artist. the daybed mattresses and pillows are from laguna beach shop lala from kerry cassill.
okay, on to my bedroom! the armoire is an antique from forever ago, the bamboo mariella hooks are from urban outfitters. the Vintage Distressed Oushak Rug is from chairish, again over a wayfair sisal rug. my headboard is a white slipcovered iris headboard from shabby chic, and the frame is shabby chic’s florence platfrom bed. i have the most comfortable new mattress i’ve ever slept on and it’s from LUMA Sleep — honestly, it’s soft, but not too and the best i’ve ever slept. the duvet cover and shams in white are from bella notte (who’s having a warehouse sale and donating 300 of their products to families in recovery from the devastating California Fires), and the white crochet throw is vintage from super marché. my big beautiful george nelson bubble lamp is also from rejuvenation’s vintage collection, as is the white vintage metal chair in the corner. the painting over the bed was a find from a street brocante in paris that i carried all over the place — planes, trains, and automobiles until i finally brought it home.
now out to the veranda — the vintage sofa is from chairish and i had it reupholstered by revitaliste. the big chinese basket is from jayson home and it’s filled with blankets and throws for all those chilly nights. the vintage wallpaper table used to be in my entry, but now it holds all my plants and it’s from Anthropologie. the vintage french bistro table is from Elsie green and the wicker dining chairs are from allmodern.
and last but not least, my funky little kitchen! the barstools are the Sunwashed Backless Riviera Counter Stools from serena & lily, the Vintage German Roll Down Chart is from chairish. the black & white graphic When life gives you lemons art print is from hotel magique, and the vintage bamboo wine rack is from chairish.

Stunnig pics and great vintage finds! Are you sure these chairs are from Thonet? They are beautiful, but I can’t find this model in their archives? greetings from Munich
Thank you Max! They may be a Thonet knockoff – I’m not 100% sure! :)

Enjoyed looking at all your homes details…thank you!
Thanks so much, Sue. That’s a vintage piece from Chairish.com.
Super late in reading this, but your new home is gorgeous! I hope you’ll show us the gardens as well?
Thanks so much! And yes, soon! :)
Wow…how awesome. What a wonderful and comfy home. Love your style – I want to guy everything! I didn’t read any mention of the tall feathery spike in the corner of your living room. What was big at? Great prop for a corner. Ideas?
Thanks,
Linda
Thanks, Linda – that’s just a Palm Frond that fell in the wind. I see them in the parks after a particularly windy day! :) And also, there’s a couple of etsy shops that sell them:

Wow, I am truly stunned. This just popped up randomly in my Google feed and I had to take a look. I knew immediately that this was the same property where my son and I lived for about five years starting in 1997. I’m wondering, is there still a bathtub in the backyard? That was one of my favorite features. It looked very different then. But just as enchanting. It was a wonderful time in my life. I hope you’re thriving.
Hi Sheryl,
How crazy! Yes, there’s still the outdoor bathtub which I use all the time in the summer. I just love it here and am definitely thriving! Cheers! Victoria
