this week we’re heading to my old hometown, that beautiful city by the bay, san francisco. and we’re about to dine at one of its newest hot spots, Fisher Loft, a loft-style all-day restaurant and cocktail bar located on the second floor of the charming Palihotel. the idea behind Fisher Loft is that you can mix and mingle, morning, noon and night — there’s even a lovely afternoon tea service. earl grey and crumpets, anyone? i find the decor to have a bit of a wes anderson set decoration vibe written all over it — it’s a little bit kitschy with cute floral wallpaper and vintage portrait paintings, deep velvet seating — definitely a most whimsical wes-like flair. we’re going to dress the part, quite literally as if we are starring as an ingénue in Wes’s latest film (coming soon!) in a sweet print dress to clash perfectly with the wallpaper, pink velvet blazer, modern mary janes with pink tights, and because san francisco can be chilly, a warm and cozy pink plaid scarf. while we lounge in the lobby awaiting our mates, let’s read red at the bone by Jacqueline Woodson, a very well-received novel that moves forward and backward in time, when an unexpected teenage pregnancy pulls together two families from different social classes and exposes the private hopes, disappointments, and longings that can bind or divide us from each other.

Wow, those tile floors are so beautiful. I love the pattern. How would one go about recreating such a look?
