stoneware porcelain salt bowls from heriott grace.

since we’re all cooking and baking a whole lot more these days while holed up at home, i thought i’d round up some shops that serve up wonderful cooking accouterment — ten online shops that i think you will come to love. as a blogger, the biggest hazard of my career is probably online shopping. when you’re searching for cool accouterment to share, it’s really easy to think, “hey, i need that” — so sharing sometimes helps get it out of my system. i apologize in advance for enticing you, too, to shop.

but these are shops where i really covet the merchandise, and when it’s gift-giving time or when i really need something around my own house, these are the spots i check out first for unique items i’d love to have, and i’m hoping my friends and family don’t already own. they’re often handmade, always beautiful, and very well-presented — which for me, always makes the difference. this week i’ve got ten shops for the cooks in the crowd – all things beautiful and gastronomic for your kitchen!

1. herriott grace – handmade with love by a father & daughter team, this shop carries lovely wood and porcelain dishes, serving pieces and kitchen goods. because they’re so lovely and each a one-of-a-kind, they sell out fast, so keep checking in for new wares as quickly as they are created.

2. Merchant no. 4 – The old saying ‘Keep It Simple’ stands true for many of the utilitarian pieces carried at Merchant no. 4 — like this lovely teak swan soup ladle — perfect for all the delicious soups we’re cooking up. it’s not all just kitchen supplies, but you sure can find a great inventory of gorgeous kitchen wares here.

3. JIA’s Steamer Set is my go-to food steamer. it’s a modern interpretation of traditional chinese steaming, and not only does it work beautifully to steam veggies and fish, but also a gorgeous Ceramic Steamer Pot and Lid with a Cedar Wood Basket that looks just as pretty on your countertop as the healthy food it helps you create. and it’s both a Versatile Food Steamer and Stockpot — it Steams and stew foods simultaneously, reducing your cooking time.

4. elsie green is a wonderful online shop for french vintage cookware and tabletop goods, among other household treasures. they have two brick and mortar shops in northern california, too but while they’re closed during quarantine, you can shop online. i like the idea of this vintage ceramic soap dish for prettying up your kitchen sink.

5. kaufmann mercantile – they’ve got all the goods you need to get your kitchen going, including one of my personal favorites, their Classic Cast-Iron Dutch Oven perfect for slow cooking — and some really beautiful chef’s knives and cutting boards in their useful very kitchen cupboards. what more could you want?

8. the Always Pan from our place is my favorite pan — it’s the perfect size and shape to do the work of eight pieces of traditional cookware. it’s got ceramic non-stick coating, a stainless steel steamer basket and a Nesting spatula, finished with natural mineral oil and it comes in three different colors to best match your kitchen. and if you use the code SFGIRL10 you’ll receive $10 off your purchase.

  1. Can’t wait to dive into all these. Always a disappointment when I see they there is no delivery to the uk! The link to the first page is going to the wrong site – a hair removal shop.

  2. Hi Victoria, I just wanted to say I found this post very comforting… and can completely relate to the emotional rollercoaster thing.

I too have been looking for pretty kitchenwares since I’ve been cooking so much… I just came across this site today and thought you might like it too – connectedgoods.com – they have beautiful things at really reasonable prices, all fair trade/handmade :)

    stay well!

  3. Just what I needed as I’m in the market for some kitchen organization items. Thank you for putting together a list of your fave resources!
