when this is all over, somewhere i’ve been missing is jolly olde londontown. it’s definitely one of my favorite cities, exuding charm everywhere you look. there’s a darling abandoned fire station turned hot (no pun intended) posh hangout, so if you’re seeking swanky cocktails and a hearty meal head to no197 chiswick fire station — it won’t disappoint. the plush interiors are aesthetic perfection from the pomegranate and pale pink velvet chairs to the casually cornered cacti. after all these sweatpants, i say we bring out our retro best in a vintage-inspired, feminine white lace blouse, paired with a very british pin-striped blazer, black slip skirt and some tall, mod boots. this outfit’s got me feeling very girly aka mary quaint, so let’s top it off with a grand hat and a sweet beaded bag. i think an appropriate read before heading out for the evening would be I Was Told There’d Be Cake — a wry, hilarious, and profoundly genuine read chronicling the struggles and unexpected beauty of modern urban life. writer Sloane Crosley’s debut collection of literary essays is a celebration of fallibility and haplessness in all their glory. cheers to that.

Hi Victoria, Would love to join you on one of those velvet chairs sipping something bubbly. So fun that you posted, “I Was Told There Be Cake”. I just pulled this book out of my stack yesterday and started this morning. It is making me cry tears of laughter- much needed right now.
That would be lovely! And I know – this book is hilarious!! Enjoy the read and Cheers!
What a dreamy place (and outfit!) I love London so much. I have a trip planned for the last week of October but we’ll see if it happens! If not, I’m hoping to go ASAP. Also, I LOVED that book! I need to order another one of Sloane Crosley’s books – such a funny and relatable writer.
xx Chelsea
