how are y’all sleeping these days? it’s saturday and as i write this it’s just been announced that joe biden is our president-elect and for that, i m eternally grateful and expect my sleeping patterns to improve. because with everything in the news these past few months, i have been having weird nightmares, waking up in the middle of the night way too often, and just generally having a hard time falling asleep with my mind whirling with thoughts. so i’ve been trying really hard to remedy this — with a few tips i’ve read about recently that i thought i might share with you should this be the case with you, too.
first off, i’ve started sleeping with a fan on for the white noise, but also because i like my room kept cool so i can bury myself deep beneath my duvet covers. i also listen to a gentle waves soundtrack i found on Spotify. i couldn’t find one that plays long enough to help me fall asleep so i literally just added the ‘waves’ to this soundtrack over and over so i can listen on repeat. i know there are apps for this but the price adds up and this was essentially free with my spotify membership. what else? i wear an eye mask, my duvet & sheets are super soft, and i started taking Hum’s Beauty zzZz Sleep Aid before bed. i’ve banned the ipad for reading in bed — real books only, which i read with a small rechargeable book light and lots of candlelight. i’m hoping this new routine will settle my mind. and of course, last but not least design-wise, i’m keeping my bedroom as minimal, zen and simple as can be. here are some more soothing bedrooms that might inspire better sleep. here’s to lots of zzzzz’s.

So helpful….I don’t have trouble falling asleep, but I have trouble staying asleep. ☺️
Soooo much stress relief!!! It’s also been much cooler in our area since the rain over the weekend (where were you when Santiago was on fire?!). That one-two punch has really helped me sleep really well these last few nights.
Congratulations!
(Despite our lockdown light) I was in the city at the end of the afternoon when I called home and heard the news. I let the thought sink in but then I thought, if I let this sink in too far I’ll start to cry. Which doesn’t make sense (I don’t live in the US).
PS as for sleeping, I’ve just read that having a strict schedule for when you go to sleep and wake up also helps.
I can always use more sleep (like I imagine for most of us). And loving these interiors.

I wept with happiness when it was announced on Saturday that Biden had won. Immense relief, though I will not totally relax until he is inaugurated on January 20, 2021. Trump is creating chaos as we speak…pray that our country survives until January.
I as well have been having nightmares and generally interrupted sleep. This was the first time I ever happy cried from the result of an election. Thank you for these soothing and simple images, and all best wishes to future comforting and restful sleep.
Loved and sorely needed this post and its photos of slumber-inducing spaces. Thank you!! Wishing you good sleep health.
