color story: a very simple christmas / sfgirlbybay

this week’s color story is a little different in that it’s also about a very simple kind of Christmas. here in California, we’re back in lockdown, so i will be solo this year. my family has canceled their visit and so decorations seem a little unnecessary. however, i think we all could use a little mood-boosting, so a few decorations might go a long way. i actually prefer this kind of holiday decor, it just feels more homey and homemade to me. i also searched etsy for decor and gift wrap ideas to help support small businesses this holiday. if you can, even online, please consider supporting these small businesses so they don’t go under during these economically challenging times. that could even include buying gift cards from small cafes and restaurants so that we can support them until they’re able to open back up. anyway, just a few ideas for a very simple christmas!

  1. Such a beautiful idea! Makes me want to send a package with a pine cone from the forest to my friend in the far away town…

    All the best

  2. This reminds me of Nigella Lawson’s Christmas tree who apparently only has lights and a peak made from a whisk. I guess cooking is her deity of choice.

  3. Your yearning for a simpler Christmas touched my heart. This year, more than any other, simplicity brings tranquility to me. Every creative idea you’ve shared in this post is simple, yet delightful with a touch of whimsy!

  4. En lo sencillo esta la belleza…un post emocionalmente muy bonito. gracias y buenas fiestas para todos a pesar de la situacion que vivimos.

  5. Thanks for this post and its inspiring pictures, I enjoyed it a lot and clicked on almost every link. :-) I started decorating quite early, for me it makes a home cosy at this this time of year. December is a month without much daylight here in Germany. We are close to a second lockdown too by the way.
Let’s cross fingers that 2021 will be a better year for all of us. Take care!
