greetings and salutations, my friends! it’s that time of year when i take a wee sabbatical and the blog goes on hiatus for a few weeks. but before i go, i leave you with some images that brought me lots of calm and inspiration. i hope you won’t miss the blog too much, and instead enjoy some well-deserved time offline! i think we can all concur this year has been a real doozy and rest is what we all really need. time away from the news, the computer, from too much over-stimulation, and some time to just reflect and think about how we can collectively make 2021 a brand new year we can all look forward to. i think we’ll be kept inside and apart from friends and loved ones for a while longer, but you know what they say — absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder. maybe it’s a time to let go of what doesn’t serve us well (hello, toxic twitter — i swear, i stay off of there for just a few days and i feel my brain exhale deeply!). i have a love-hate relationship with all social media to be honest and miss my pre-internet days an awful lot sometimes. i miss just calling people or knocking on their doors. a text does not always convey everything our heart wants it to. anyway, i digress and all i really wish for us is some peaceful, quality time with ourselves and those we most love. i’ll be working on some new goals and we’ll see how well i do! happy holidays, a very safe and healthy new year and much love to you all! see you back here soon!
xo, victoria
- i loved this gallery view from tappan collective and i’m a sucker for anything with arches, anyway. but the soothing blue hues really just drew me in and gave me pause, and honestly just a nice place to rest my eyes for a moment. i read recently that researchers discovered that the average time that adults spend looking at one object in a museum is less than 30 seconds. that’s just not long enough!
- i have a thing for bulbs rooting in glass jars, especially vintage ones and stylist susanna vento created just a gorgeous look here with this small group of glass collectibles. i think it’s also kind of a fun ‘hobby’ while we’re staying home to try and grow living things from cuttings and bulbs.
- this is just a gorgeous house in amsterdam. i love a good butterfly chair, even when placed rather unexpectedly — like a sculpture of some kind. i also love the lace crochet throw on the bed. i have a vintage one on my bed and love the texture it adds to my bedding.
- this has to have become one of my very favorite powder rooms. the dark and dramatic marbled wall color is sublime (i think you can always go for drama in a small bathroom) and i love the lighting fixtures just so much. if i went into this loo at a party i might never leave!
- these living room vibes are just so groovy. i love the uber-long green velvet sofa and matching ottoman and dark floors. it looks like the kind of place you could curl up with a glass of merlot and a pile of joan didion’s short stories and relive the 70’s.
- i love just everything from the photography to the styling from the future kept and i find jeska hearne’s images just so soothing to look at. i think you could fall down a serious rabbit hole of inspiration on their visual journal and i know you’ll love their shop too. they’ve got a keen eye for curation. follow along on instagram, as well!
- this is just such a beautiful laurel canyon dining room shot by photographer amy neunsinger, a photographer and designer from Los Angeles. i’ll bet you’ve seen her work all over the place and perhaps never realized it — from work with designer leanne ford, to the pages of Architectural Digest, Martha Stewart Living, and Domino, her inspiring work is everywhere.
- this lovely peek into a chateau in france is a must-see. from this charming living room to the very vintage kitchen i think you’d love the full tour of Château de Dirac on vide deco, a fellow online vintage brocante i admire. have a gander!
Thank you for this beautiful blog. It gives me peace and inspiration. Merry christmas and god jul. Camilla, from Norway.

Wow, very nice. It has a different feel to what you normally select.
I hope you have a nice week next week. Stay safe.
Long time follower but hardly ever comment! I just wanted to say thank you so much Victoria for all the beautiful images and posts that you so faithfully put out every day! I honestly think you have one of the very best “eyes” for design and creativity.
I wish you so much joy and health this Christmas and the New Year and may it bring much hope to us all.
Love Tracy
