happy friday, one and all! what are you up to this long three-day weekend? i’ve got my usually reading going on (if you need a good read, i just finished shuggie bain and loved it!) and i think some time in the garden if the rain doesn’t arrive. truth be told, i’d love a little more cozy rain and so would our california landscape. monday is a holiday here in the states so i’ll see you back here on tuesday. have a lovely weekend whatever you do.

xo, victoria

  1. i really love the modern yet rustic simplicity of this bedroom. it’s really calming feeling and looks like the kind of place to get a good night’s rest. i like the molding and beamed ceilings too but it’s that vintage looking bedspread that’s won me over.
  2. we have a lot of banana palms growing around our yard and i love the look of clipping just a couple and putting them on display. i love this whole vibe — the mid-century modern dresser and chair paired with Scandinavian white-washed floors look really fresh and inviting.
  3. interior designer extraordinaire leanne ford has a new hgtv show out, Home Again With The Fords where she and her brother steve update some pretty great old homes. this dining room makeover is from their latest project and the very first episode — you can watch on hgtv or i found it streaming on amazon prime.
  4. this is yet another charming house tour on one of my favorite blogs, the modern house and i love this little workspace — mostly it’s the use of these great bauhaus-style stools (i have a few and love them for extra seating) and that old terrazzo minty green floor is fantastic.
  5. this lovely and very sunny bedroom is all that and a bag of chips. it’s so very zen, and with a window like that feels so close to nature  — another bedroom you’d sleep in so peacefully.
  6. this is such a charming covered porch area. it feels so simple and calming like you’re dining outside in a treehouse. i’d love something like this for summer dinner parties — feels so intimate and perfect for gatherings (sans insects!).
  7. this is probably my favorite kitchens of all time. all that lovely light coming in from the louvered windows and the greenery outside truly makes it feel as though it’s an indoor-outdoor kitchen. the artwork and decor accessories are all spot-on too. i could move right in.
  8. leslie williamson is one of my favorite interior photographers and authors (Handcrafted Modern, Modern Originals and Interior Portraits), and i love the way she captures interiors in an unfussy, totally unstaged way — this pretty dining space is a prime example. plus those windows, that greenery. sigh.

One response to “friday finds.”

  1. Great Friday post, as always! I love The Modern House blog and instagram LOTS too. Makes me want to move to England!
BTW, Alvar Aalto wasn’t really part of the Bauhaus, though the timings overlapped. He was really his own movement, or at best, the leader of the Finnish modern movement, He did meet with some of the Bauhaus School, though he didn’t work there himself.
