i’ve rounded up some somewhat quirky and funky finds this friday — not sure what got into me! but i did watch a pretty fun little flick last night starring michelle pfeiffer called french exit that may have put me in this frame of mind — it was rather wes anderson-ish and i found myself laughing out loud. anyway, i digress, here are some colorful and kind of whimsical rooms to cheer you up before the weekend. enjoy and cheers!

xo, victoria

  1. i adore everything about this slightly quirky home in the english countryside, even just this little nook. the color palette is joyful and a little whimsical and one imagines coming home to it, and hanging your coat here must be quite a happy thing indeed. not surprisingly perhaps that it’s the home of a creative director and set designer and it’s available to rent! for the full tour, hop on over here.
  2. i’m a big admirer of new york photographer nicole franzen. a virtual stroll through her beautiful online portfolio is an inspiring one to be sure — from her food photography to interiors around the globe. like this brilliant image — what a grand idea to treat little weavings like these grouped as a wall hanging.
  3. this is a very charming display of collectibles. from the pretty pale pink walls, chic striped area rug to the lovely vintage glass display cabinet, i quite like the whole look. love the display of basket totes beneath it and boxes atop it, too.
  4. this photographer’s journal is like taking a wee trip to provence. meet marine brusson, a self-taught photographer from Guadeloupe and now based in Bordeaux, france who highlights her life (and very charming home) on her beautiful photographic journal. i highly recommend a visit.
  5. the modern house is one of my favorite blogs, with the dreamiest home tours, like this one of creative entrepreneur abisola omole’s home in london. i love her collection of colorful vintage glassware and the simple but somewhat whimsical way she’s displayed it all. so charming!
  6. talk about collectors! this home tour on vogue home of Terry Ellis and Keiko Kitamura’s very charming Brixton home is just beyond! and in the article, they ‘apologize because they’ve just downsized’. i cannot imagine more, but i dearly love their many quirky kitchen collectibles.
  7. and then, on the other end of the spectrum (i’ve got something for everybody, today!) this is a beautifully minimal open kitchen shelving display, but that green glassware gives it a little extra oomph, doesn’t it? what an easy and affordable idea to add a dash of color and quite stylishly.
  8. this home in mykonos is as eclectic as they come. it’s the grecian hideaway belonging to interior designer Rebecca Körner. i really love that vintage Afra and Tobia Scarpa sofa which she’s cleverly covered in Peter Dunham Textiles’ ‘Zanzibar’ green linen. simply smashing.
