friday finds / sfgirlbybay

welcome to the weekend, friends. i don’t know about you, but i hardly feel like working lately, and instead, those summer vibes are trying to coax me away from my laptop and instead to enjoying some time off, goofing off — with a good book and some time splashing in the surf. i keep debating about taking a little mental staycation from the blog for a week or two and guilt keeps me coming back. but would it be so bad if i took a wee break? do tell! in the meantime this week’s friday finds have kind of a European feel for me — perhaps because i’m longing to go there again! have a great weekend one and all!

xo, victoria

  1. the brixton home of keiko kitamura and terry ellis is eclectic to be sure and their bathroom is no exception. i love the mismatched bit of chaos going on here, the calder poster print, and the madcap checkerboard floors. check house & garden uk for the full home tour.
  2. this photograph shared by @parisbydesignco on a trip to the Maison Fragonard boutique, perfumery and apartment in Arles takes me right back to our shopping trips for super marché traveling around the south of france, and man-oh-man how i miss it. i hope it feels safe enough to return one day soon.
  3. the very lovely blog, my day with shares the Geneva, Switzerland apartment of interior designer Cécilia Finet, and as a longtime fan of these wooden room screens by Ludvik Volak from the 1960s, i was instantly drawn to her simple, but uniquely beautiful bedroom. it’s a wonderful home tour, too.
  4. i simply love this very clever architectural feature featured on dwell! replacing a door with a bookshelf window provides storage while still allowing daylight to enter their office. and imagine viewing your bookcases from outside your home. i think it’s smashing and it might be even more interesting if the book spines faced out — i envision laying on my patio chaise and looking up and thinking, ‘oh, i’d love to read that book right now.’
  5. this is the minimalist but very beautiful home of artist charlotte culot featured on milk decoration, and i love her paintings as much as the incredible abstract rugs she creates – do have a gander at her inspring work.
  6. this is very simple but such an eye-catching bookshelf designed by ysg studio and quite possibly an easy diy. i love that it’s like a modern shallow display case for all your treasures and collections, or perhaps a spot in the kitchen nook for displaying your favorite mugs and glassware.
  7. the modern house is a very favorite blog of mine and this feature on handbag designer Alison Lloyd’s Victorian flat in Dalston is fabulous with what Lloyd refers to as ‘organised clutter’. i love this little vignette featuring a sewing pattern and a few special treasures.
  8. i find this quirky little bathroom so charming and oh-so-european. it’s refreshing for me to see design that’s never overdone (and perhaps even a little ‘undone’) but that works so well, and i’ve always like the idea of hiding the bathroom plumbing behind a simple but chic little curtain.
